Rwanda invests in ICT to connect govt with citizens, ICT ministry

The Permanent Secretary in ICT and Innovation, Yves Iradukunda has said that Rwanda is investing highly in Information Communication Technology to increase the government-citizen relationships.

While addressing participants of the 11th African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) in Kigali on 25^th August 2022, Iradukunda reiterated to the ICT conglomerates how technology has improved livelihood.

“The expansion of internet usage has improved service delivery in all spheres of the economy. To date, internet application improves livelihoods, management of infrastructure and improved collaboration between Government and the citizens” he said.

AfPIF aims to expand and improve internet connectivity in Africa while examining what hasn't yet been streamlined, and what ought to be improved.

AfPIF partners from all over the world Meta Group, Google, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Microsoft, Internet Initiative, Japan Lab, Africa Data Centres and others met in Kigali from 23rd-25th August 2022.

Currently, 98 percent of government services are accessible on the internet by applying to the Irembo services portal.

Other sectors such as education, health, industries and the construction of infrastructure can provide services through the internet.
